Encampment clearing at St. Paul’s Pig’s Eye Park cost taxpayers nearly $440,000

Nearly two months after St. Paul cleared the Pig’s Eye Park homeless encampment, city records reviewed by KSTP show the operation cost taxpayers nearly $440,000.

The records detail spending across multiple city departments and include police staffing, parks operations, public works, inspections, fuel, supplies and contracted cleanup work. The largest expense was more than $333,000 tied to contracted cleanup, according to the records.
