Consumers should check their sprouts and toss them out if they were sold under the Everything Sprouts and Calco brands.
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Departments of Health and Agriculture confirmed Thursday a multi-state outbreak of E. coli and Salmonella infections has been linked to Minnesota-grown alfalfa sprouts.
A statement from the agencies said 23 people across the state between July 8 and Aug. 8 have been sickened by the product, which is sold to restaurants and grocery stores under the Everything Sprouts and Calco brands.
Officials said of the nearly two dozen Minnesotans who fell ill, two became hospitalized. Another 18 cases in Wisconsin have also been linked to the sprouts, with an unknown number of infections reported in other states. Officials said they expect the number of cases to rise as the investigation continues.
