'Disregard for our safety' | New Jersey half-marathon runners race half-underwater during flooding

PARAMUS, N.J. — A New Jersey half-marathon nearly turned into a swimming relay over the weekend after flash flooding forced runners to splash their way to the finish line. 

Matthew Vickers, a 37-year-old from Nutley, New Jersey, documented the race alongside his cousin on his Instagram account. At one point, the video shows the two men trudging through knee-high water during the Racefaster half marathon in the New York City suburb of Paramus, New Jersey, as the area was put under a flash flood warning on Sunday, Sept. 13.
