Crash course in cardiac response: Schools racing to comply with new state law to protect children

“Has anyone called 911?” — one of a dozen steps in an effective response to the discovery of a student down, heart not beating.

This is a drill, part of the training for the New Prague Area Schools’ brand-new Cardiac Emergency Response Team.

Like schools around the state, they’re pushing to make sure they’re complying with a new state law designed to save lives.
