Company recalls pork cracklings snack imported illegally

Federal inspectors found they were made in Colombia, a country barred from exporting meat to the U.S.

WASHINGTON — Approximately 264 pounds of potato chip products containing pork cracklings have been recalled after federal food safety officials determined the items were produced in a country not authorized to export meat products to the United States.

El Eden Import Distributor Corp. of Long Island City, N.Y., issued the recall after the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the action Sept. 9.
