A Colorado couple who both donated kidneys to strangers will hike the Grand Canyon next month to show what's possible for living organ donors.

COLORADO, USA — A Colorado couple who each separately donated a kidney to a stranger will hike part of the Grand Canyon next month to show what's possible for living organ donors.

Chris and Vicki Sullivan are training for a 17-mile roundtrip hike along Bright Angel Trail, which drops 4,500 vertical feet to the Colorado River and climbs back up, in a single day. They'll make the trek, which was adjusted after recent flooding, the weekend of Oct. 10 with Kidney Donor Athletes (KDA), an organization that organizes athletic challenges for living donors.
