Charges: Former Albert Lea police officer sent his wife private police recordings, photos

A former Albert Lea police officer is facing charges for allegedly sending private pictures and videos from his body-worn camera to his wife on Snapchat.

Jacob Lawrence Gibson, 35, was charged last week with one count of willfully violating government data practice act or rules.

According to court records, Gibson sent his wife a video of him entering an apartment and tasing a man on July 24, 2025. The next day, Gibson sent his wife a photo of law enforcement positions on a computer dispatch program, the complaint said.

In August of 2025, court records say Gibson sent his wife a photo showing a dispatch call for mental health, with the address and specifics redacted but the words, “Albert Lea at its finest.”

Several months later, in December, the complaint says Gibson sent his wife a video of him pushing a man against the wall before arresting him.
