Republican incumbent Congressman Tom Emmer is running for his seventh term in the 6th District after winning each of his previous races by anywhere from 18 to more than 30 points. His 2026 Democratic opponent, Doug Chapin, hopes to ride a wave of discontent he sees with President Donald Trump and a Republican-controlled Congress.
“I believe very strongly in the Constitution,” Chapin said in an interview recorded for “At Issue with Tom Hauser” that will air Sunday morning at 10 a.m. “Our founders put Congress first when they wrote the Constitution. Congress is supposed to be the people’s branch of government and stand up to the president. Right now we have a president who thinks and acts like he’s a king. Congress needs to stand up and say no and unfortunately my opponent is one of many Republicans in Congress right now who are not saying no and letting this happen.”
