Third body discovered in Minneapolis in 3 days

At least three bodies have been found in Minneapolis over three days, including the latest discovery near the Stone Arch Bridge. Police have not indicated that the cases are connected. Meanwhile, the Dakota County Sheriff's Office is asking for tips after another body was found in the Mississippi River. FOX's Kelly O'Connell reports.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Authorities have identified another one of the several bodies found near water in Minneapolis over the past week.

What we know:

Around 1 p.m. Monday, University of Minnesota police officers responded to a report of a body around 6th Street and Main Street Southeast near the Stone Arch Bridge. 

A UMPD spokesperson identified the deceased individual on Friday as 54-year-old Randip Eugene Satoskar. 

What we don't know:

Police have not released any details regarding the circumstances of Satoskar’s death. The investigation into his death is ongoing. 

Satoskar’s death has no known connection to any other incidents at this time, the police spokesperson confirmed to FOX 9. 

Several bodies found over past week

Big picture view:

Satoskar was one of several people found dead near bodies of water in Minneapolis in recent days. 

Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) and Minneapolis Park Police officers located the body of 56-year-old Karen Sognesand just after 6 p.m. Saturday along the Mississippi River near East River Flats Park.

MPD is investigating Sognesand’s death, which has no known connection to any of the other incidents, a spokesperson said. 

Authorities also recovered a body along the shore on the east side of Bde Maka Ska on Sunday. The body was found severely decomposed, according to Minneapolis Park Police. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office is also seeking the public's help as they investigate the death of a Minneapolis man whose body was found in the Mississippi River on Friday, Aug. 14. 

Timothy Standish Jr., 40, was found dead in the river near Inver Grove Heights. He lived in Minneapolis' Stevens Square neighborhood, according to the sheriff's office. 

The sheriff's office is asking anyone who knew Standish or has information about his friends, associates or recent activities to come forward.
