A newly discovered audit says Minneapolis’ violence interrupter program lacks oversight as the mayor proposes cutting millions from its funding.

Mayor Jacob Frey’s proposed budget cuts nearly $2.7 million from violence interrupter funding — sharing at his budget presentation, “Violence interrupter funding continues but is being reduced, in some cases significantly.”

“A noble program filled with committed and talented community leaders,” Frey said, “But clear tracking has not demonstrated the level of results taxpayers deserve.”
