PORTLAND, Ore. — Amtrak’s next-generation Airo passenger trains are set to begin carrying travelers this month, marking the start of a nationwide fleet modernization effort that will eventually bring new trainsets to routes across the country.
The first three Amtrak Cascades Airo trainsets will begin regular revenue service Sept. 30, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The service launch date was revealed Thursday at a Puget Sound Regional Council meeting.
