Twenty-five years after experiencing the chaos of 9/11 firsthand, Corliss Fulton Pruden relives the events.

NORFOLK, Va. — Twenty-five years ago, Corliss Fulton Pruden was 30,000 feet in the air, working a routine flight as a flight attendant, when her pilot delivered the words that would define her life: America was under attack.

"It was surreal," she said.

What followed was a blur of confusion, fear, and disbelief, one that wouldn't fully sink in until later.

"It didn't fully register until we finally got off the aircraft and I'm able to visually see what was going on, what was happening," she said. "It was unbelievable. It was an awful, awful day."
