DULUTH, Minn. — An explosion and fire at a fuel transfer facility in Duluth left one person hurt on Monday.

According to the Duluth Fire Department, they were called to the explosion at the corner of W Superior Street and Carlton Street around 1:30 p.m.

Officials said two workers were in the process of emptying a 17,000-gallon tank at the time, and that when the fire happened it was almost empty. One of the two workers was taken to a local hospital for injuries. Officials say no one else was hurt.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly enough that they did not need to do significant evacuations of the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
