A 78‑year‑old woman well known in the Mill District community is facing a long and painful recovery after she was hit by a car while crossing the street near Gold Medal Park on Friday, according to her family.
Ina Dunham’s son‑in‑law, Jake Dunham, said she was out for her daily walk — a routine she has kept for 30 years — when she was struck in the intersection at 11th Avenue South and Second Street near the Guthrie Theater between 5:45 and 6:45 a.m.
“She’s stable, but there’s a long, painful recovery ahead at this point,” Dunham said.
He said her injuries are extensive.
“She has a fractured pelvic area, like probably going to lose her foot,” he said. “The head has been very hurt and damaged. So there’s a staple holding the back together. A lot of facial injuries as well.”
