Woman arrested after deadly hit-and-run kills man in Hudson

St. Croix County investigators have arrested a 20-year-old woman who they say is responsible for a fatal hit and run early on Sunday morning that killed one man in Hudson.

St. Croix County deputies responded just after 4 a.m. for reports of person who was lying in the road near the 500 block of County Highway N.

First responders tried saving his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has not been identified yet but investigators say the victim is an adult male.

In the hours that followed, deputies tracked evidence from the crash scene back to a residence in New Richmond.

That’s where they found the driver, 20-year-old Angelica M. Altena, who was arrested and now awaits formal charges.

Investigators say that this is the fourth traffic fatality recorded by St. Croix County in 2026.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
