Wayzata accused of writing, printing manifesto threatening to kill a judge found guilty

A federal jury has found a Wayzata man who wrote a manifesto in which he threatened to kill a judge guilty on all counts.

Robert Phillip Ivers, 73, was found guilty on two counts of mailing threatening communications and one count of threatening murder to a United States District Judge following a four-day trial.

Among those targeted by the threats was a federal judge who presided over Ivers’ 2018 criminal trial in which he was found guilty of threatening to murder another federal judge and a witness during the same trial.

Ivers was arrested back in 2025, accused of writing and printing multiple copies of a manifesto titled “How to Kill a Federal Judge.” The manifesto, according to charging documents, was nearly 300 pages in length, filled with threats against multiple people and their children, as well as numerous ominous drawings with threatening statements.
