Watch: Eden Prairie native William Sawalich reacts to re-signing with Joe Gibbs Racing

Joe Gibbs Racing announced Thursday that Eden Prairie native William Sawalich has signed a contract extension to continue driving the No. 18 SoundGear Toyota GR Supra in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2027.

Sawalich earned his first career O’Reilly Series win earlier this year at Rockingham Speedway. Along with his win, Sawalich has six top-five finishes and nine top-10s here in 2026. He’s in a position with a strong finish to qualify for the playoffs.

Our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson caught up with Sawalich, via Zoom, to hear about the re-signing and how his summer of racing his going. Plus, they hit on this being the 10-year anniversary of Sawalich racing.

Sawalich, 19, will race in Iowa this weekend, with a number of family and friends making the drive down. North Carolina is now home for Sawalich.
