University of Texas student makes $1.2M field goal on ESPN's College Gameday, pledges half to charity

Connor Kacena-Merrell said he wasn't just thinking about his future when he pledged to donate thousands to an Indiana nonprofit.

AUSTIN, Texas — A University of Texas at Austin freshman was picked out of hundreds for a shot at $1.2 million dollars during ESPN's College Gameday. He pledged beforehand to split the winnings with a nonprofit organization based in Indianapolis.

He says he was in the right place at the right time to make it through the goal posts. 

Connor Kacena-Merrell, who is from Zionsville, Indiana, got the chance on ESPN's College Gameday, where Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit gave the freshman a chance to make a field goal for a massive prize in their "Kicking is Easy" segment before the Texas Longhorns...
