A judge ruled that the shooting of Kirk likely endangered others around him, and that Kirk was targeted because of his political beliefs.
PROVO, Utah — Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing far-right activist Charlie Kirk, will stand trial for aggravated murder, District Judge Tony Graf decided Tuesday.
The charge makes Robinson eligible for the death penalty if he's convicted.
Robinson turned himself in a day after the shooting at Utah Valley University in September 2025. He has not yet entered a plea.
Prosecutors claim video and DNA evidence showed that Robinson was at the UVU campus the day of the shooting and on prior days. They also claimed he confessed to the shooting to his romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, and to others on a Discord server.
