The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is pausing construction in Big Bend National Park while Commissioner Rodney Scott evaluates the work.

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection is pausing all construction activity in Big Bend National Park while the agency's commissioner travels to West Texas to personally evaluate the work.

CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott announced the pause Monday, saying he plans to spend the next several days evaluating the terrain and meeting with local leaders, community members and other stakeholders.

"CBP is pausing all construction activity in Big Bend National Park while I visit and conduct a personal, on-the-ground evaluation," Scott said in a statement.
