Minneapolis Police say the 18-year-old fell from the Checkerboard Grain Elevator and suffered life-threatening injuries.
MINNEAPOLIS — A teenager is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after falling 20 stories while climbing a grain elevator in Minneapolis, according to police.
The accident happened around 8:30 Monday night at the decommissioned Checkerboard Grain Elevator located at 3716 Cheatham Avenue in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis firefighters used a ladder truck to reach the 18-year-old who was stuck on an elevated platform next to the grain elevator.
Homeowners in the area report hearing screams Monday night and they immediately knew the screams were coming from the grain elevator down the street.
