State trooper involved in serious injury crash; stretch of I-35 in Forest Lake temporarily closed

A stretch of interstate in Forest Lake is temporarily closed as authorities investigate a serious injury crash involving a state trooper.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation said that I-35 between Highway 97 and Exit 131 will be closed in both directions until 9 p.m. due to investigation work.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a state trooper was involved in a crash at I-35 near 220th Street.

Officials said the trooper and the driver of a Lexus sustained serious injuries and were brought to the hospital.

The Forest Lake Police Department is investigating the crash.
