Many of the people who lived at the homeless encampment at Pig's Eye Park moved seven miles away to a more secluded encampment.
SAINT PAUL, Minn. — After the City of St. Paul cleared its largest homeless encampment, the city council got more insight into the fallout.
Assistant Mayor Cedrick Baker said they started to clear Pig’s Eye Park on Aug. 5, and it was cleared by Aug. 7. The city estimated around 124 people lived there, but only 45-50 remained on Aug. 5.
The city transferred more than $1 million to Ramsey County to expand bed space. That funding will be through Dec. 2028, but Baker said they’ve only been able to track seven people who have used those beds.
