The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday it discontinued the use of Flock cameras, citing public concerns.

Cmdr. Ben Zawacki said the county ended the use of license plate readers provided by Flock Safety. Authorities said although the cameras can be useful for public safety, there has been growing “backlash” for how agencies are using the data.

As of Wednesday morning, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office said it began shutting down and removing the cameras.
