WASHINGTON — A regional jet had to make an emergency return to Houston, Texas, after the plane's windshield shattered in the cockpit.
The incident happened Sunday after the Mesa Airlines regional jet took off from George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport, bound for El Paso, Texas. The flight had 72 people on board.
The pilot was heard on the radio announcing the emergency to air traffic controllers.
