The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that scammers have stolen more than $1.2 million from seniors since the beginning of August.
Authorities said scammers have recently targeted seniors across the county with convincing stories and complicated tactics. The sheriff’s office said since Aug. 1, there has been 17 confirmed cases of senior scams.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office released a list of some of the recent senior scams, with the victim’s age and how much was taken:
- 67 year old: $700
- 78 year old: $1,500
- 73 year old: Over $1,500
- 75 year old: Over $1,800
- 77 year old: $2,000
- 68 year old: $6,000
- 61 year old: Over $27,000
- 77 year old: Over $37,000
- 73 year old: $800,000
