MARIETTA, Ga. — Three adults were charged with child cruelty crimes after police in Georgia said more than a dozen children were found inside a home during a welfare check, living in "deplorable conditions."

Police said the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services requested assistance while visiting an apartment in Marietta, Georgia, to conduct a welfare check after being notified that two kids were living there.

Detectives began working to obtain a search warrant after police said attempts to contact an adult were unsuccessful.
