Phi Beta Kappa, the country’s oldest academic honor society, has released a statement correcting the Wall Street Journal after the newspaper questioned Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan’s remarks about graduating “Phi Beta Kappa” from the University of Minnesota.

The Journal reported Wednesday morning that Flanagan claimed she was a Phi Beta Kappa member during a 2016 Minnesota House committee hearing, but the newspaper said when they asked her campaign, staff members said she did not actually belong to the honors society due to the cost of membership.
