Over 1300 join A Breath of Hope’s lung cancer walk

More than 1,300 people joined A Breath of Hope’s annual lung cancer walk and run in Minneapolis to raise awareness and support research.

The 20th annual A Breath of Hope lung cancer walk and run happened at the Lake Harriet Bandshell in Minneapolis. Organizers aimed to raise $300,000 for lung cancer research.

“We’re here to say that lung cancer is underfunded and we want to change that by spreading awareness and raising money,” said Teri Cannon.

“Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Minnesota, America and the world,” said Cannon.

The event comes 20 years after the organization began hosting the walk. Organizers and survivors said treatment and support have changed over time.

“We have so many new medications, new techniques, and actually no one is treated now the same way they use to be treated 10 years ago,” said Konstantinos Leventakos.
