Officials urge Isanti residents to avoid area while they respond to incident they say is 'an immediate threat to public safety'

ISANTI, Minn. — Officials are urging people to avoid the area near the 800 block of Cedar Street Southwest in Isanti while law enforcement responds to an incident they call "an immediate threat to public safety."

In a statement to KARE 11, the Isanti County Sheriff's Office said they believe at least one person has fired a gun from inside a home on the 800 block of Cedar Street Southwest.

"We are still gathering information but this is an immediate threat to public safety and we urge people to stay away from the area until law enforcement secures the scene," the statement reads. "It is believed that at least one individual has fired a weapon from within a residence outside. Contact has not yet been made by anyone inside the residence."
