Northfield store boosts Latino and Hispanic artists, entrepreneurs by providing space to sell goods

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Not far from the main street in Northfield is a shop unlike any other. The kind of shop that is home to more than one entrepreneur.

“We want to bring visibility to a people that is very invisible, that is here, that is a part of our community, that we’ve been here for a long time,” said Mar Valdecantos with Mercado Local.

Valdecantos is the director of Rice County Neighbors United, a nonprofit organization that has various initiatives — Mercado Local is one of them.
