The Penny Press Machine Company, in Little Canada, Minnesota, is one of the few penny press makers left and is finding new business despite the end of the penny.
LITTLE CANADA, Minn. — Days before the KARE 11 Barn opened to the public at the Minnesota State Fair, Kathy McCarthy was concerned that one of her favorite fair keepsakes might not make a return.
"I love the KARE 11 Penny Press," said McCarthy, a metal art hobbyist and long-time KARE 11 viewer.
"They're just really neat because they have different historical sites on them, but I don't know if the penny presses are going to last."
McCarthy echoed the concerns of many, who wondered how long the penny presses might be around after the US Treasury ended penny production in 2025.
