A simple mouth swab, a change in who is at-risk for heart disease, and a reminder that summer heat affects more than your body.

CLEVELAND — Case Western Reserve University is leading a new effort to develop a test that could tell clinicians within minutes, right at the dentist's chair, whether a suspicious spot in the mouth needs a biopsy. 

The test, called the BDI-FIA, uses a simple oral swab to measure the ratio of two naturally occurring proteins that shift in the early stages of oral cancer.
