New home-sharing program launching in Twin Cities metro

A new Minnesota program is pairing older homeowners with adult home seekers to lower housing costs and help people stay in their homes.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is offering a home-matching service that connects homeowners 55 and older with adults looking for a place to live. The shared housing program is now open for candidates.

“I came across this program, and I thought that’s really unique,” said Janette Bronner, who lives in Minneapolis.

Bronner moved to Minneapolis this spring and said she was discouraged by rental prices.

“I thought about, ‘Gosh, I’m working all the time, I’m paying how much in rent; there’s got to be other options,'” said Bronner.
