New exhibit centers Palestinian American identity, highlights strength of Arab women with screen printing

In her new exhibit, “Living Threads,” St. Paul-based artist Hend Al-Mansour uses screen printing as a vehicle for understanding. It is part of an ongoing body of work exploring what it means to be an Arab woman, driven by an effort to show “that not only Arab women are powerful, but all women are powerful,” she explained. 

An earlier version of the work debuted in 2025 at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) as part of “Mihrabs: Portraits of Arab American Women” in the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program gallery. In that initial exhibition, Al-Mansour placed portraits she created of four women in her community inside walk-in architectural structures rooted in their respective cultures.
