A Minnesota woman who was hospitalized with salmonella after eating at a Chipotle restaurant is now suing the fast-casual chain, alleging the company was negligent in handling its produce.
The plaintiff, Kristen Behne, is among more than 100 Minnesotans who fell ill during a recent salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeño peppers grown in Mexico.

Behne, who filed the lawsuit this week in federal court, said she fell ill after she ate a burrito bowl from Chipotle’s Roseville location on June 24. Her order included three items that use raw jalapeños as ingredients, and her strain of salmonella matched with the genome traced to Chipotle’s peppers, the lawsuit states.
