Minnesota election experts: SAVE America Act would disrupt voting to fix ‘a problem that doesn’t exist’

The set of voter registration reforms known as the SAVE America Act that has become a top political priority of President Donald Trump would impose massive burdens on the people and systems that ensure Minnesota elections operate securely and smoothly – and for unclear benefits – state election officials and experts say.

“We’d be going back in time to where people had to go to a government office and show particular documents” to prove their identity, Steve Simon, Minnesota Secretary of State, said in an interview.
