Minnesota’s human services agency says it will use risk scores to prioritize tips about suspected fraud.
5 INVESTIGATES asked what happens when Minnesotans report suspected fraud to the state and how the state handles those reports.
Fraud remains a top issue for Minnesota voters in this election, and candidates and the public continue talking about it.
Questions about whether authorities follow up on fraud reports are not new. Before retiring earlier this year, former Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Commissioner Shireen Gandhi acknowledged some people feel ignored.
“I get very upset when I hear that people feel they are being ignored. That is not OK,” Gandhi said in a previous interview.
Republican state Rep. Kristin Robbins said she has also been asking for information about what happens when people report suspected fraud and said she has struggled to get answers.
