There are concerns that Minnesota’s assisted living facility rating system has major issues and it involves two state agencies.
A new report by the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor found the Department of Human Services’ assisted living report cards do not incorporate serious maltreatment findings.
The report also found shared oversight between the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and other agencies has created challenges and potential risks.
“We are working on a legislative package for 2027 to help address some of our access information and connectivity,” MDH Deputy Commissioner Wendy Underwood said.
MDH says it will work on ways to improve the value and transparency of the report cards.
