More than a dozen schools are on the chopping block as Minneapolis Public Schools weighs several options to overcome sluggish enrollment, underused buildings, and recurring budget issues.
Three restructuring proposals were presented before the school board on Tuesday evening, with different outcomes for each option, but at least 12% of MPS students expected to be rerouted to other schools for any one of them.
A total of 16 schools, many of them serving elementary students, could be at risk of closing or merging next year.
