The Metro Transit Blue Line train is back in service after operations had been paused since June for rail, signal and station upgrades.

Blue Line service resumed Thursday after months of bus replacement, with Metro Transit saying the work should cut wait times and speed up trips for riders.

According to Metro Transit, these upgrades were needed after 22 years of service.

Among the installments was 2,300 feet of rail, new signals and updated stations with new real-time signs and new paint.

More Blue Line construction is planned next year with a full-scale renovation of the Lake St., Midtown and Franklin Ave. stations.
