An Oakdale man is recovering from emergency reconstructive surgery after his fiancée said he was punched, stomped and kicked during an assault at the Minnesota State Fair on Sept. 5.
Heather Hoffman says her fiancé, Sammy Kimbrough, suffered a broken jaw in two places and extensive dental damage after a teenage boy became aggressive when Kimbrough accidentally bumped into him in a crowd.
“He has a broken jaw in two separate places. One of them being so high it was not able to be plated and screwed. The other side does have plates and screws in it,” Hoffman said.
She said the bands currently wired across his jaw are “what’s holding everything together, in hopes that that left side of his face will mend itself over time.”
Doctors told them the healing process will take time.
