Police say an unknown person "posing as Pittsburgh Steelers player Eli Heidenreich" approached a 20-year-old and a 50-year-old woman for the scam.
WASHINGTON — Two Pennsylvania women were scammed out of $1,000 by somebody posing as a player on the Pittsburgh Steelers, state police said.
The incident happened in July, when two Washington County women sent money to somebody they thought was Eli Heidenreich, a running back for the Steelers.
According to an incident report released this week, an unknown person "posing as Pittsburgh Steelers player Eli Heidenreich" approached a 20-year-old and a 50-year-old woman and was able to convince them to send him money through various financial transactions.
