A man is in the hospital after nearly being struck by an Amtrak train after his car stalled on the tracks in Morrison County early Saturday morning.

Law enforcement was called to the train tracks on East Sixth Street in Randall — roughly 30 miles southwest of Brainerd — at around 2:30 a.m., according to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.

Police say a 62-year-old man was driving when his car stalled on the tracks, adding that the man was able to get out of his car before it was hit by an Amtrak train.

However, law enforcement said the man was struck by debris from the crash and was later flown to St. Cloud Hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Law enforcement is investigating. Check back for updates.
