Lily Peters murder case won’t go to trial, resolution hearing set for Aug. 26

The teenager accused of killing 10-year-old Lily Peters in Chippewa Falls back in 2022 will not stand trial, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has confirmed.

The Chippewa County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that a resolution hearing is scheduled for the end of August.

A jury trial was scheduled for November but the resolution hearing means the case will wrap up following the Aug. 26 hearing.

Carson Peters-Berger, now 18, was 14 years old when investigators say he sexually assaulted and murdered Peters before leaving her body on a nearby walking trail.

Peters was last seen leaving her aunt’s house, and after her family reported her missing that night, volunteers searching the area found Peters’ body the next day.
