Voters in Florida, Alaska, Wyoming and California will cast their ballots Tuesday, Aug. 18, for their preferred candidates in primaries and special elections.
WASHINGTON — Polls were open in four states Tuesday, Aug. 18, with voters in Alaska, California, Florida and Wyoming selecting their preferred candidates ahead of Election Day this fall.
Primary elections were held in Alaska, Florida and Wyoming. In California, polls were open for a special U.S. House election in the state's 14th Congressional District to decide who will finish out the seat vacated by former Rep. Eric Swalwell. Swalwell resigned roughly four months ago after sexual assault allegations emerged during his campaign for governor.
