Thomas Novak dropped out of Toledo Central Catholic his senior year and joined the Marines. He died in Vietnam in 1968. His family is finally getting his diploma.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Terri Simpson remembers what it was like growing up around her older brother Thomas.
"He was a fun guy to be around," the former Terri Novak said. "He played football at Central. He was a go-getter. Big guy. Very gentle though."
Among the adjectives Terri used to describe her brother, she also listed "protector."
"If there was any trouble, he was always there to protect me," Terri said.
In the spring of 1967, that big brother was a senior at Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio.
