Isanti man facing 14 counts of attempted murder, 18 additional charges for hourslong standoff

An Isanti man is facing over 30 felony charges after an extensive standoff involving an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement last week.

Jason Michael Phillips, 42, faces 32 charges, including 14 counts of first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer and 14 counts of first-degree assault against a peace officer, according to a criminal complaint filed in Isanti County.

According to the complaint, officers first went to the home on Cedar Street Southwest after a 911 caller reported Phillips was throwing paint cans and glass jars into the street.

Court filings say officers tried to contact Phillips before gunfire reportedly came from the home, continuing in several bursts.
