Check your settings to see which apps have the microphone on.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — We've all had a conversation with someone in person, and then the next time we pick up our phones, there's an ad or a story or a post that relates to that conversation we just had.
That's when we say, "My phone must be listening to me." It's kind of a joke, but it's not.
"The apps are listening to us. The phone is not listening. It's not turned on and listening all the time, and there's some guy on the other side back in the 1980s with his headset and listening to see what you're saying," said Kent Meeker, of TechScout.
Technology expert Kent Meeker recommends getting out your phone and looking to see which apps have the mic turned on.
