PORTLAND, Oregon — Prosecutors in Southern California announced Thursday that the last unidentified victim of the "Happy Face Killer," currently serving multiple life sentences in the Oregon State Penitentiary, has been named more than 30 years after her body was found.
The young woman's body was found on Aug. 30, 1992, about seven miles north of the small town of Blythe in far southeastern California, along Highway 95. The highway parallels the Colorado River, which divides California from Arizona.
